The Big Game
“Carson, it is time to go to the game!” I yelled. My Dad, Carson, and I are going to the KU and K-state football game in Lawrence.
“Jadon, I bet you that K-state beats KU,” said Carson.
“Whatever, you must be sick or something,” I said
“No, you must be sick or something.”
“Whatever, lets just wait and see.”
Later on I said,” Dad, why did we stop?”
“Because we got stuck in traffic, that’s why I said we needed to leave early so we would not get stuck in traffic.” Forty five minutes later Carson says, “Finally we got to the stadium.”
“But now we have to find a parking space, and that’s going to be really hard,” I say. “That took forever now we have to walk like five miles.”
“Hurry up we are goanna miss the opening kickoff and that’s the best part,” Said Carson.
Then my dad said, “Did I give you the tickets?”
“No, you did not give me the tickets don’t tell me you lost them.”
“Never mind I have them right here.” “Our seats are right here field side.”
“Awesome, thanks Dad!”
“Hey thanks Julius!” Carson said
“No problem, here we go the game is about to start.” BOOM the kick is up KU returns the kick to the fifty.
Five plays later KU scores then I say to Carson, “This is going to be a walk through the park for KU.” Then KU kicks and K-state runs it back for a touchdown. That was really bad.
Then Carson says, “This is going to be a walk through the park” Halftime, the score is seven to seven.
“Dad, can we go play catch over there?” I asked.
“Yeah, you can, but come back after halftime is over.”
“Ok.” Then, Carson and I start to play catch and these teenagers steal the ball from us and they would not give it back. So, I have to go tell my Dad. Two minutes later my dad comes back with the football.
“How did you get the ball back so fast?” I asked.
“All I had to do is holler at them, and then they just threw it at me,” he said.
“So what’s the score?” I asked.
“Its 24 to 21 KU is up by three, but K-state is about to score,” he told us.
“What quarter is it?” asked Carson.
“The third quarter,” my dad said. Then, the crowd goes wild. KU just picked off a pass and ran it back. Now it’s the fourth quarter, fourteen minutes and fifty five seconds later, KU is up by one point and K-state is about to score. Fourth down, K-state is about to kick a field goal. The kick is up, and then KU blocked it. What an amazing play.
“Now Carson, do you have something to say,” I asked.
“Ok, KU is better than K-state,” he said.
“All right lets go home.”
“Great, now we have to walk another five miles. Thanks again for bringing us to the game Dad,” I said.
“Hey thanks Julius,” said Carson.
“No problem, now let’s go get something to eat,” he said.
That was the longest drive in world. One lesson I learned was never take your best friend to KU game when they are playing his favorite team, because there will be a lot of problems.
